My approach to rainmaking is unique because I blend traditional consulting and coaching into marketing mentoring. Let me explain a little deeper.
Consultants are brought in as an outside expert to work on a specific issue or challenge. They are typically experts in their field and often do the work that you are incapable of doing in-house. They have a reputation of walking in, not taking the time to understand your business, making radical suggestions for change and walking out—leaving you with a sizeable bill and no transfer of knowledge.
Coaches, on the other hand, assume that you are the expert. They will not tell you what to do or how to do it better. They are masters at asking questions so that you provide the answers and your own path forward. STRUCTURE
Being a “virtual business”, I'm priviledged to work with clients all over the country. Though I'm based in Lexington, KY, the majority of my business comes to me online via published articles, speaking engagements and educational webinars. In my experience, small business owners are more interested in finding an expert to understand their situation and solve their problems than simply finding someone in their own backyard.
A typical client engagement is a minimum of six months with 2-4 telephone sessions per month depending on the challenges at hand. My clients are generally experts at their chosen craft. They've spent years perfecting their trade; yet they've hit a wall because they don't fully understand how to market a professional service firm. They understand that growth requires more than simply doing good work. And they understand that the actions that got them where they are today aren't enought to get them where they want to go.
FEES
My fees are project-based—not hourly. They are based my contribution to your improvement. I do not have an hourly rate or a day rate. We'll work together to uncover and quantify your goals; then I'll develop the best plan I can to help you get there. It's not about the time, it's about the results. The faster we generate results, the better off we'll both be.
CLIENT SUCCESS STORIES
#1: Converting website visitors into subscribers.
Problem: A small Washington DC political think tank wanted to increase awareness of their cause and generate more subscribers to their website.
Solution: I worked with this firm to develop a comprehensive web strategy that took advantage of social media tools (like Google Video, Digg and Reddit) and initiated a design overhaul to spread the word for their cause.
Result: After creating a new subscriber page that allowed members to invite their friends and family, new subscribers increased by 58% within 90 days. And the new website design is being rolled out across their entire site.
#2: Increasing sales, Improving service.
Problem: A Fortune 500 multi-national office productivity firm wanted to take a more personal approach with key West Coast client, Farmer's Insurance. The goal was to generate more product sales without increasing dedicated sales staff.
Solution: We designed and built a website that followed all of Farmer's brand guidelines and was hosted on their corporate intranet site. We then trained Farmer's agents on which products were best suited for their office and how to buy them online.
Results: Agent satisfaction went throught the roof. They had immediate access to the products they wanted and didn't need to rely on a commisioned sales force to potentially guide them down the wrong path. And best of all, West Coast product sales increased by 18% in less than six months.
#3: Increasing awareness & PR opportunities.
Problem: A mid-sized Midwest advertising agency narrowed their target audience focus but their existing website didn't address the new direction.
Solution: We kept the existing structure of the website but completely changed the focus of the website copy and images to demonstrate how well the firm understood it's target audience and their issues.
Results: Through some very cost effective market research, the firm discovered that the target audience better understood it's positioning after the website update. Addtionally, the clear and targeted nature of their messaging was effective enough for the firm to be showcased in a leading national design magazine.
